Write for Analogue

Have a story you want to tell about the arts in the Windsor area?

Analogue works with local writers to tell the stories of artists, creative spaces, events, and the people building our arts community. You don’t need to be a pro journalist or have an established writing portfolio. We’re looking for people who are curious, engaged, and interested in telling stories about their own community from inside it.

Fill out the form below and we’ll add you to our Call for Writers email, which goes out every few weeks with ideas for stories and assignments we’re looking to cover on the website and in upcoming print issues.

What writing for Analogue looks like

Our assignments range from short pieces about exhibitions, performances, and community happenings to interviews and longer features that dig deeper into an artist or their work.

From there, let us know which stories interest you, or suggest one of your own. We’ll provide a brief with the basic direction for the piece and connect you with the right people to get started.

Editing is a normal part of publishing with Analogue. The goal is to help your piece fit the publication while keeping your perspective and voice intact, and our editors will work with you through the process.

We’re especially interested in writers who want to meet people, experience things, ask good questions, and help document and share stories about the creative things happening in Windsor.

Before you get started

Our Writer’s Guide is a short introduction to how we approach stories, voice, structure, and working with our editors.

Give it a read before taking on your first story. It should give you a good sense of whether writing for Analogue sounds like something you’d enjoy.

What don’t we publish?

We don’t tend to publish reviews or creative writing. While those sorts of stories can have great value, they don’t meet the editorial mission of Analogue.

Who can contribute?

You don’t need previous publication experience. Whether you’re an experienced writer, a student looking to build a portfolio, an artist interested in writing about other artists, or just someone with a love and curiosity about the arts community around you, we’d love to connect about having you contribute to a future issue.
